Oyo govt approves N417m for rehabilitation of 3 roads

THE Oyo State government has approved over N417 million for the rehabilitation of three major roads in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Risikat Alabi, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing the press at the end of the state executive council meeting.

According to the commissioner, the roads to be rehabilitated were the 1.9 kilometres road at Basorun at a total sum of over N120 million.

Other roads to be rehabilitated included 3.6 kilometres Orita Naira-Isale Ora-Arowomole in Ogbomoso at the cost of over N113 million, just as the 3.2 kilometres Access Road to Jabata in Ogbomoso would be rehabilitated at the cost of over N183 million.

In his briefing, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Mr Kunle Ishola, informed journalists that the state government had approved the procurement of 54 tractors of New Holland and Mersey Ferguson models at a total sum of over N274 million to afford farmers the opportunity of acquiring tractors at a subsidised rate for the next planting season.

The commissioner also reiterated the determination of government to remodel farm settlements in the state, stressing that in addition to the rehabilitation of Fasola Complex, the state government had decided to rehabilitate the Akufo Farm Settlement at the cost of N275 million.
