I Know My Father, Do You Know Your Father? Fayose To Obasanjo
Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose late Sunday afternoon in Okuku, Osun State poured his venom on former President Olusegun Obasanjo inside the Okuku, Osun State residence of sacked Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
A source that witnessed the incident told THEWILL that Fayose was angered when Obasanjo passed a comment calling him a rascal who has no respect for elders including casting aspersions on Fayose's paternity.. In response to Obasanjo’s perceived rude comments, a visibly charged Fayose responded in Yoruba saying: “Mo mo baba mi, Se o mo baba e”, meaning “I know my father do you know your Father.”
It is speculated in political circles that former President Obasanjo’s father hailed from one of the eastern states.
The event was a thanksgiving lunch/reception hosted by Oyinlola after a church service at St. Michaels Anglican Cathedral, Okuku, to celebrate his seven and half years in office before his sack by a Federal Court of Appeal in Ibadan, Oyo State a few weeks ago.
Our source said Fayose walked into the a sitting room where Oyinlola and guests including former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida; Governor Gbenga Daniel (Ogun); Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala (Oyo) and Youth Development Minister, Akinlabi Olasunkanmi amongst other dignitaries were being entertained. While he was exchanging pleasantries with Akala who was elated to see him, Obasanjo spoke loudly in Yoruba asking Fayose why he did not salute him and called him ‘Omo ale’, meaning ‘a bastard’ or 'an illegitimate child.'
“Fayose ignored baba’s earlier comments but was infuriated when baba called him a bastard. He insulted Obasanjo and just would not stop, the atmosphere was charged. It was Oyinlola, Akala and others present that appealed to Fayose to calm down,” the source said, adding that Obasanjo was shocked and embarrassed.
Recall that Obasanjo allegedly orchestrated the removal of Fayose as Ekiti State Governor before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained and charged him for allegedly misappropriating Ekiti government funds.
