The Super Eagles came into the game having won all their opening two games at the ongoing African Cup of Nations. The game against Guinea-Bissau was a formality but the Nigerian team showed they meant business.
Here are five talking points from the game:
Quote
(1) Augustine Eguavoen:

The Super Eagles coach continued his 100 per cent record in the group stage at the African Cup of Nations. The coach led the team to win all its group games at the 2006 competition hosted in Egypt. He will hope that he leads the team to the gold medal at this competition as against the Bronze medal he won 16 years ago.
(2) Super Eagles has strength in depth:

Augustine Eguavoen made eight changes to the team list that played the games against Egypt and Sudan in the opening to games of the competition. The players called up by the coach also showed that they deserved a place in the team just like every other player invited to the competition.
(3) Super Eagles finish top of the group:

The Super Eagles finished top of their group with maximum points behind one of the tournament favourites, Egypt. Nigeria won all their group games against the Pharaohs, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau. This means they will avoid any of the top teams in the competition which will give them an edge to booking a spot in the semifinals.
(4) Moses Simon is Key in the Super Eagles Attack:

The 26-year-old forward player has been key in the Super Eagles' opening three games of the competition. He was also a thorn in the flesh of the Guinea-Bissau's defenders. His skill and ability to take on players will be a key part of the team going forward in the competition.
(5) Consistency in the Super Eagles Team:

The Nigerian team have not dropped in their playing style since the first game against Egypt. Augustine Eguavoen has managed to keep the team's strength and focus in every game they have played in the competition. If the team continues on this level on consistency then they will be one of the most likely teams to win thr tournament.
