During an intimate interview on The Wunmi Bello Show, Yemi Alade reminisced about her upbringing in an Ibo-Yoruba family as the daughter of a police inspector. The singer had also discussed the significance of recording Johnny, as well as how she came to do so. Yemi Alade, who was featured on Beyonce’s “My Power” from the Lion King: The Gift soundtrack, explained how she lost her voice the day before she was scheduled to begin recording.
The singer claims that she was able to successfully lock in her verse despite the fact that she only started to regain her voice on the second day and could only speak and not sing.
On Beyoncé and the Disney recording The Lion King: The Gift, which was released in July 2019, Yemi Alade appears twice. Don’t Jealous Me and My Power both feature the singer.
