Peter Obi, one of the most populat 2023 presidential candidates, has listed the major problems Nigeria is battling.

The Labour Party (LP) flagbearer spoke on Friday in an interview with CNN.

Obi stressed that insecurity must be tackled headlong to achieve sufficient food supplies.

You have to get farmers to go back to farms and ensure that the vast land of the North is cultivated.

“You have to start pulling people out of poverty as quickly as possible.

“You have to reduce, aggressively, the cost of governance and deal with corruption.”

On the importation of refined fuel despite being Africa’s largest oil producer, Obi called for increased private sector participation.

“There is no reason why our refineries cannot work. The private sector should be encouraged to build refineries.

“Remove fuel subsidy, use the resources to support critical areas of production”,
the former Anambra governor added.

It’s easy to say it , but doing these things needs a president who will be actively involved in day to day administration of critical government agencies. Nigeria is big but its productivity per capital is much more lower than its production capacity.A good leadership can turn Nigeria into the land of good and honey .First and foremost on that list that I think can change the momentum of Nigeria economy and human capital is , reduction in the cost of governance .Nigeria cost of governance is the most expensive in the world ,taken to consideration the percentage of the gdp expended to cost of governance. This is why I have expected Nigerians to demand the termination of federal law makers both houses should be disbanded and limit legislation to state level or retain federal level and scrapped state levels .The model of Nigeria democracy leaves nothjng to the public .Almost all the dividends of democracy is been used for the few in government.

Trust me man, a lot of people know the problem of Nigeria. The issue has always been how to effectively solve those problems. Now for instance on the issue of cutting down the cost of governance, we have 469 lawmakers in Nigeria (109 senators, 360 reps), do you know how much is spent in maintaining just these 469 people in one month??? You won't even believe it! I'm talking of the legal spendings supported by law o, not the various side deals some are not aware of. Now the question is this, is the next president ready to break the law to save Nigeria???
