Three police officers caught on camera assaulting a motorist for having expired vehicle documents have been summoned for guard room trial.
A video of the officers assaulting the man and some of the occupants in his car went viral on Tuesday, September 26.
In a statement released today, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Asinim Butswat disclosed that the erring officers have been invited for guard room trial while one of them has received a query.
The statement reads;
''UNRULY BEHAVIOR: The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo fdc, has ordered the Provost Marshall of the Command to try the Policemen seen in a viral video, attacking a civilian with a stick, over expired vehicle particulars, on 26 September, 2022, at Akenfa, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Orderly room trial has commenced for Inspector Agip Teiwei and Inspector Bedford Emolade, while ASP Peter Frank has been queried.
The Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined organization and Bayelsa State Command cannot condone any act of indiscipline by its officers.''
