SILENCED LEADERS (THE WORLD’S WOES)

These days, we are being tossed around by politicians who not only do not keep to their promises but do not have the fear of God. I have this belief that the so called democracy is a way of man to push God further aside. I do believe that it is good for one to speak his or her mind when there is sincerity. But when bunch of lies and deceits are involved, it becomes unthinkable. Where are our prophets that do hear from God? What have we done to the voice of God in our leadership? Democracy and God can not operate together. I guess we’re following the foot steps of our fallen fore father Adam but as perfect as Adam was, he never had what we now have. Back then, God came to him to have fellowship but now, He dwells in us.
In the book of 1 Samuel 8:7, you’ll see that the children of Israel turned away from God’s directive and Samuel was not happy about it. Rather than get directives from a prophet, the children of Israel choose to be led by the carnal man. For any nation to prosper and have good success, their leaders must hear from God and direct the people as God has spoken.
I know that since most of these things must happen in order to usher in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but Christian nations can do better to make our lives a bit better. Just because of time and space, let us see how in two occasions God proved to be best in any situation when it comes to defending a nation that He loves by reading; 2 Kings 19:34. The king of Assyria was boasting of his carnal strength undermining God’s absolute power. You may read the entire chapter to see God in action when His people are being threatened.
When the people of Israel were thrown into Baal worship, the prophet of God stood up and thought the people about ethical monotheism (worship of one true God).
In the book of 1 Kings 18, we read about Prophet Elijah who caused the rain not to fall in Israel for three and half years. In verse 17 when King Ahab saw him, he asked Elijah if he was the one troubling Israel. This led Elijah to challenge all the prophets of Baal (verse 25). When they failed, you can read what Elijah did in verses 30-38. Won’t it be nice if our Prophets can hear from God and direct us and not democracy? If our Prophets are allowed to lead us and not politicians, we’ll be inviting God to take control again. Just think about it. As we are getting ready replace our old calendar come January first 2011, let us try to renew our relationship with our Heavenly Father who makes each day of our lives new.  He alone can change our situations for good. I wish you a New Year of hope and prosperity.
