Former reality TV star, Tacha Akide has praised the Nigeria Police Force for dispersing a crowd that gathered at the popular Lekki Toll Gate to protest the death of musician, Mohbad on Thursday evening.

She said this in an Instagram post on Friday.

Recall that the police earlier said it deployed teargas to disperse the crowd on the grounds that they were not authorised to be there and their presence caused heavy traffic on the busy Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The police claimed that no one was killed or injured, negating widely circulated claims of some people being injured in the incident.

In her post, Tacha urged people to shun spreading inaccurate information about the situation because the organisers of a candle-light procession in honour of Mohbad which held at nearby Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, had granted the audience permission to leave after the performance ended.

The BBNaija star faulted those that stayed back at the Lekki Toll Gate, turning the demonstration that was meant to honour and seek justice for Mohbad into a protest, which prompted the Nigerian police to step in.

“We can all agree that the organisers said you can all go home. Everybody saw when this event ended yesterday; you saw the celebrity leave; you saw everybody going, but no, some people decided to pack themselves to Lekki toll gate.

“If you want to protest, it’s not an issue, but a lot of people did not come out to protest. If you want to protest, fix a date, get the date approved by the goverment and then you can go out.

“Like stop changing the narrative; they started early and ended early; they told everybody to go home, but no, you people want to bring up issues where there is no issue.

“Kudos to the Nigerian police, you people tried, cause I saw video of them begging people to go home, but people want to hijack a candle-light procession for a brother of ours that died, and you want people to come online and support you, im sorry,”
Tacha said.
