Music maestro, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye popularly known as King Sunny Ade celebrated his 77th birthday on Friday, September 22.
To commemorate the day, the septuagenarian shared a video on Instagram of himself performing in a joyful mood with his band.
Although the milestone was marked with subdued celebration, D’banj, a younger colleague of King Sunny Ade, took to social media to celebrate the jùjú legend on his birthday.
He said, “Happy, happy birthday to the legend himself.
“We must greet and celebrate you specially.
“Thank(s) for the Swag. 21 forever.”

Born on September 22, 1946, in Osogbo in present-day Osun State to a royal family from Ondo State, King Sunny Adé is a jùjú singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Sunny Adé formed his own backing band in 1967, eventually known as his African Beats.
He achieved national prominence in the ’70s and international acclaim in the ’80s with the release of his albums Juju Music (1982) and Synchro System (1983), having signed to Island Records in 1982.
Synchro System (1983) garnered him a Grammy nomination, the first for a Nigerian artiste.
