In a recent development, the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a woman, identified as Linda Ihebinike, for her alleged involvement in a transaction using counterfeit Nigerian currency.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police command, revealed that the arrest stemmed from the vigilant actions of a Point of Sale (POS) operator. According to Hundeyin, the operator detected the presence of fake Naira notes during a transaction attempt by Ihebinike, prompting immediate action.

"The vigilant POS operator raised the alarm after a customer, Linda Ihebinike, attempted carrying out a transaction with fake N1000 notes to the tune of N90,000," stated Hundeyin.

Following the alert raised by the POS operator, law enforcement authorities swiftly intervened, leading to the apprehension of Ihebinike. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding the use of counterfeit currency in the transaction.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of public vigilance and collaboration in combating fraudulent activities within the community. As law enforcement agencies continue to prioritize the maintenance of law and order, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious behavior or criminal activities to the authorities.
