Five people conveying three truckloads of assorted solid minerals suspected to be mined without an appropriate licence have been arrested

They were arrested at by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission along Maraba road, Ilorin Kwara State and Ogbomosho, Oyo State between March 21 – 22, 2024.

The suspected illegal miners were arrested by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of EFCC following credible intelligence and surveillance, the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale said.

According to the statement, the suspect three truck drivers and two truck boys were conveying solid minerals suspected to be marble stone, white powder, lithium and lepidolite, to Shagamu and Alakija in Ogun and Lagos States respectively for commercial purposes without a requisite licence.

EFCC said the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

What investigation when evidence is with you there, waiting for investigation, they will escape like Binance because they have sponsors. If it is in Rivers/Bayelsa you will not wait for investigation. Look at the  illegal gold mining in Zamfara and other solid minerals in the north east, they are private and no go area for federal government but, any mineral in the south has federal government interest, is that one Nigeria?
