The tranquil streets of Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, were marred by tension over the weekend following the alleged killing of a trader identified as Ezeani Ebuka by soldiers believed to be from the 32 Artillery Brigade.

The incident, which occurred in the Mobil area of the bustling Arakale road, sent shockwaves through the community, prompting outraged fellow traders of the deceased to barricade the road in protest.

As the protest escalated, causing a significant traffic jam, pedestrians and motorists alike hurriedly sought safety amid fears of potential violence and disruptions to business activities.

According to eyewitnesses, the tragic confrontation ensued when a soldier purportedly demanded a refund for a service rendered by the 27-year-old deceased trader. An altercation ensued between the soldier and Ebuka, leading to a fatal stabbing allegedly perpetrated by one of the soldiers.

Another account of the incident alleges that prior to the stabbing, the soldiers had subjected Ebuka and his family to physical assault, resulting in one family member being left in a coma.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Olusanya, the police spokesperson in the state, emphasized that an investigation had been initiated and urged the military authorities to cooperate in identifying the soldiers involved.

"The police can confirm the stabbing of a young man by a soldier," stated SP Odunlami-Olusanya. "The command is in communication with military authorities to ensure the perpetrators are identified and arrested."

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability, underscoring the importance of upholding justice and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

If my people retaliate now they will claim that their soldiers were on a peace keeping mission. Mad dogs (REHABILITATED) terrorists from the North bringing disrespect to the Nigerian army.
