Tragedy struck in Ondo town on Wednesday, as a fatal collision between a truck and a motorcyclist resulted in the untimely death of the yet-to-be-identified middle-aged rider. The incident, which occurred at the Oke-Igbala junction in the Odojomu axis of the town, has left residents shaken and authorities on alert.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing events leading up to the tragedy. According to Lomi, an eyewitness present during the accident, the motorcyclist was allegedly riding his bike at high speed and recklessly before colliding with the oncoming truck.

Another resident, who requested anonymity, described the chilling moment when the motorcyclist unexpectedly veered into the path of the moving truck. Despite attempts to warn the rider, the collision was unavoidable.

"We don’t know what happened to the boy when he suddenly faced the truck that was coming and the truck crushed him," the anonymous resident lamented. "After dropping a passenger, I saw the boy when he ran into the truck without anybody chasing him."

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver attempted to brake upon noticing the motorcyclist's presence but was unable to stop in time to prevent the tragic accident.

Following the collision, the remains of the deceased motorcyclist were swiftly taken to the mortuary for further procedures. Meanwhile, the driver of the truck and his co-worker fled the scene immediately after the incident, leaving authorities to pursue efforts to locate and apprehend them.

The fatal collision serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the importance of road safety measures to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.

As investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue, residents of Ondo Town mourn the loss of the motorcyclist and call for greater vigilance on the roads to prevent further loss of lives.
