Family Of Bizman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo Files Lawsuit Over Fatal Helicopter Crash In California

The family of Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the esteemed former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), has initiated legal action against Orbic Air LLC, a US-based charter flight company. The lawsuit comes in the wake of a tragic helicopter crash in Southern California this past February, which claimed the lives of Ogunbanjo and four others.

Represented by the renowned law firm Robb & Robb, the Ogunbanjo family is accusing Orbic Air of negligence for deciding to proceed with the flight amidst perilous weather conditions. The crash occurred on February 9th in the Mojave Desert, amidst a treacherous mix of snow and rain, circumstances under which the family argues the helicopter should have never been allowed to take off.

The legal challenge, filed in the San Bernardino County Superior Court, is seeking a jury trial alongside an unspecified amount in damages. This includes reparation for the considerable expenses incurred for Ogunbanjo's burial and funeral, a figure that remains undisclosed at this time.

Robb & Robb, the law firm managing the Ogunbanjo family's case, is notably recognized for its representation of Vanessa Bryant in the lawsuit following the tragic 2020 helicopter crash that led to the untimely death of her husband, the legendary NBA star Kobe Bryant.

This latest lawsuit has sparked conversations around the safety protocols and decision-making processes of charter flight operations, particularly under adverse weather conditions. The Ogunbanjo family's pursuit of justice not only seeks to find closure for their own loss but also to potentially influence the broader aviation industry towards more stringent safety standards.
