Cable Thieves Apprehended & Beaten To Pulp By Locals In Ibadan

In a dramatic turn of events, two suspected cable thieves were caught and beaten by residents in the Amuloko area of Ona-Ara Local Government Area on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

The suspects were intercepted while attempting to transport stolen electric cables on their motorcycle. The vigilant locals, upon discovering the vandalized cables, swiftly apprehended the thieves. The two men were then stripped naked and tied to electric poles as punishment.

One of the suspects, identified as Lekan, confessed that they had traveled from the Oremeji area of Ibadan to carry out the theft.

The incident has raised concerns about increasing theft and vandalism of public utilities, prompting calls for stronger community policing and security measures in the area.
