rastapaul at 21-02-2011 01:03 PM (14 years ago) (m) It is just unfortunate that the poor will continue to die so that targeted rich will leave. People kept on asking the same question that have the obvious answer that the venue and the locking of all the gates except one is to secure the rich and the dignitaries,I wonder what the downtrodden might have gone to do there ,if not for the commitment of some naira. The April national election is fast approaching and as expected Nigerians are all worshipping their present leaders from local officials to governors and the president. No one is taking a good look at the candidates past performances in office. What have these candidates done to make lives of the average nigerian citizen better?
Problems beneath the surface:
1. Massive corruption on every level. 2. Lack of transparency.....how is the oil revenue spent? What happened to all the oil revenue? 3. High unemployment in every sector and region. Many university graduates are without JOBS. 4. segxwal harrassment of women of all ages from secondary school to (NYSC) corpers seeking employments. Women (and girls) in schools and universities are harassed to trade sex for grades. When they graduate, they are asked to trade sex for employment. None of the candidates running for election offered to make segxwal harrassment a crime.
How are we picking our candidates? What have they done or will do for the people? ?

Soulmender at 25-02-2011 05:25 PM (14 years ago) (m) What a sad story. However, my concern is; what`s the lessons that had been learn? Is there any preventive measures put in place to avoid further occurrences? Or, are they just another "blood feast ritual"? Posted: at 25-02-2011 05:25 PM (14 years ago) | Newbie | |

dan fulaniYou have highlighted the scourge of Nigeria. A nation of corrupt and visionless leadership. No facet of government or life is free of this scourge. The police, the Customs, the Army, NNPC, the Ports Authority; name any and sure as daylight, they are also on the take. The academic staff of our universities and other institutions who should be leading the fight for Nigeria's emancipation and greatness are as corrupt as the word itself. They demand sex from female students and money from male students. Can you imagine the half-baked graduates Nigeria is churning out every year? The roads, hospitals, schools, railways etc rival that of the most backward nation on earth. Yet with a few Naira, votes are bought to thrust those least qualified to lead us. We need to shake the Nigerian people from it's great slumber to demand effective leadership and transformation of the country to modernity.
