In a significant operation against banditry, military forces have successfully neutralized numerous bandits in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The coordinated ground and air strikes, conducted by troops of Operation Whirl Punch, targeted a known meeting point near Bula community within the Yadi Forest.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this achievement in a statement on Friday. He noted that the operation, based on credible intelligence, followed the recent elimination of key bandit leaders along the Kaduna-Katsina border.
The intelligence indicated that bandits planned to gather for a meeting on a deadly mission within the Yadi Forest area. Continuous monitoring revealed the bandits approaching the location on motorcycles, armed and in groups of seven to ten members. The military then struck the site, resulting in the neutralization of several bandits, including Alhaji Kachalla Ragas, a close associate of the previously eliminated Buharin Yadi.
"Upon verification, the location was struck, and scores of the bandits, including one Alhaji Kachalla Ragas – an ally and childhood friend of the previously neutralized Buharin Yadi – were confirmed to have been neutralized by the strike," Aruwan stated.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State commended the military for their swift and precise execution of the operation. He expressed his gratitude to the security forces for their diligent efforts and thanked the intelligence sources that contributed to the success of the mission.
This operation marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against banditry in Kaduna State, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated military efforts and robust intelligence gathering.
