Akpabio is on everyone’s lips because yesterday, the Senate President denied approving over $80million for the purchase of two brand new presidential private jets.
Recall that two weeks ago, after Nigeria secured fresh $2.25billion World Bank loan, reports suggested that senate committee were close to purchasing two new jets, because the old ones were ‘faulty’ and could endanger the President’s life.
Peter Obi who publicly criticized and tagged it as wasteful was lampooned by Bayo Onanuga. He asked Obi if he wanted the President d€@d “like the VP of Malawi and Iran President.
Hours after the denial by Senate President, National Assembly Sources have disclosed to The Cable that the proposal will be sent to them soon. The cost of a new presidential jet will be included in the 2024 supplementary budget.
However, only the cost of one presidential jet would be included in the supplementary budget which would be funded with the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF).
