
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Minister of Defence Abubakar Badare, delivered a resounding endorsement of the Nigerian Army during the grand finale of the 2024 Nigerian Army Celebration (NADCEL) at the 3 Armoury Division, Jos.
Addressing the gathering, Tinubu praised the army as the pride of the nation, emphasizing its historical resilience and unwavering commitment to national defense.
"There is no doubt, you represent the pride of the nation; an institution with history; an institution that has never failed Nigeria," Tinubu affirmed. "Your charge now is not only to protect your country, but to do what is right and just at all times."
He underscored his administration's dedication to bolstering the army's capabilities, announcing approvals for Group Life Assurance for fallen soldiers and the acquisition of attack helicopters and advanced equipment to enhance operational efficiency.
"I feel proud as your Commander-In-Chief witnessing your skillful display and commitment to defend our nation," Tinubu remarked. "Our army must continue to evolve to meet the complex and changing security challenges of our world."
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taofeed Lagbaja echoed Tinubu's sentiments, reaffirming the army's mission to safeguard Nigeria's territorial integrity and national interests.
"The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its duty to win all land battles, protect national interests, and support civil authority," General Lagbaja stated. "We are committed to enhancing our operational effectiveness to counter evolving threats to our nation."
The event highlighted the Nigerian Army's readiness to adapt to dynamic security landscapes while receiving commendation and pledges of support from top government officials.
