
The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two journalists and their families in Kaduna on Saturday night.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the kidnapping occurred around 10:30 p.m. The police have since launched a manhunt to rescue the victims.
“We have deployed our operatives into the bush where the kidnappers are suspected to be,” Hassan said.
The victims include Abdulgafar Alabelewe, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Kaduna State NUJ Council, and three of his family members. They were kidnapped at Danhono 2, Millennium City, Kaduna. Alabelewe also serves as the correspondent for The Nation Newspaper.
Additionally, Abdulraheem Aodo, a correspondent for Blueprint Newspaper, and his wife were also taken.
The police are urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as efforts to secure the release of the abductees are underway.
