A devastating gas explosion on Ebute Road in the Ibafo area of Ogun State has tragically claimed the lives of a mother and her seven-year-old daughter, Asisat.

The deceased, 40-year-old Rafiat Sheriff, had instructed her daughter to prepare dinner. The incident occurred when the young girl attempted to light the gas cylinder, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that engulfed their home in flames.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, Ogun State police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated, "The incident occurred last night when the mother told her seven-year-old daughter to cook. The girl was attempting to light up the gas cylinder when the entire house went up in flames."

The explosion resulted in the immediate deaths of Rafiat Sheriff and her daughter Asisat. Two other girls, including another child of the deceased, are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

The tragic event underscores the critical need for safety precautions when handling gas appliances, particularly involving children. Authorities are urging residents to ensure proper safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

what an irresponsible mother! Before you start asking a girl child to play with fire.....train her by making her watch you do it until she is 12yrs of age...then with supervision until she is 15yrs. Then you can let her!
