Almost six years after evading arrest, Magaji Yellow, on Thursday, narrated to police authorities in Kano how and why he killed Gausu Umar Sadam (35) who he owed N270, 000.
Yellow, who hails from Kunya village in Minibar Local Government Area of Kano state had conspired with Rabiu Sarki Lots and Nasiru Adamu Namade, all of the same address, to kill his brother on 10 August, 2018, to cover up the debt of 270,000 he owed him.
While Rabi’u and Nasiru were apprehended by the police after committing the murder, Yellow escaped arrest, but was nabbed few days ago at the orders of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo Garba, who after going through the case file raised a Special Squad who went after Yellow.
Yellow, who thought he had become a free man was subsequently fished out to face the wrath of the law for taking the life of his own brother who had lended him money to start up a business without interest.
Yellow who confessed to his crime told police that he killed his brother to cover up the N270, 000 debt.
Yellow, who was arrested on 15 July told police that they lured the victim to Wailari Quarters in Minjibir Local Government Area, Kano State under the pretext that he was going to pay him his money, and thereafter killed him.
Briefing journalists on behalf of CP Dogo, the Kano Police Command image-maker, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa narrated that: “On 10 August, 2018, a report was received from a resident of Kunya Village in Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano state that one Magaji Yellow (38) of the same address and some others, attacked his brother Gausu Umar Sadam (35) with dangerous weapons and cut his leg vein including other parts of his body and ran away.

“As a result, the victim sustained fatal injuries.
“On receipt of the report, the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
“On preliminary investigation, two of the culprits were arrested namely: Rabiu Sarki Lots and Nasiru Adamu Namade, all of the same address, and were charged to court for offences of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
” After review of cases under investigation by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, he raised a combined team of detectives and directed that the principal suspect be trailed and arrested.
“On 15 July, /2024, sustained follow-up coupled with intelligence-led technical operations led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Magaji Yallo, after five years, eleven months and four days, that is 2160 days after the incident.
“On discreet Investigation, the suspect confessed that they lured the victim to Wailari Quarters in Minjibir Local Government Area, Kano State under the pretext that he was going to pay him his money, the sum of N270,000:00 he owed him, and thereafter killed him.
‘The arrested suspect confessed to the crime and have been charged to Magistrate Court Number 34 Nomand-sland Kano for prosecution.

“On receipt of the report, the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.
