The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Usama Mohammed, in connection with allegations of criminal conspiracy, trespassing, and armed robbery.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Command's spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakili, detailed the circumstances leading to Mohammed's arrest. The operation followed a distress call received on August 2, 2024, from a victim who reported that four armed robbers, brandishing knives and cutlasses, had invaded their home around 9:40 pm.
During the robbery, the assailants reportedly stole an Itel A70 mobile phone valued at ₦75,000 and a Huawei phone valued at ₦30,000.
“Upon receiving the call, a team of detectives, led by the DPO of Giade Division, rushed to the scene and arrested Usama Mohammed, while the other members of his gang remained at large. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects and bring them to justice,” Wakili stated.
SP Wakili further noted that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. The police remain committed to apprehending the remaining suspects and ensuring justice is served.
