The Lagos State Government has taken action to demolish houses built on the canal along the System 157 - Orchid Road - Eti Osa drainage channels.

This move is part of efforts to address the persistent flooding issues in the area, which have been exacerbated by illegal structures obstructing natural waterways.

The demolition was carried out to clear the drainage channels and allow for the free flow of water, which is crucial in preventing floods, especially during the rainy season. The affected properties were identified as being built without proper permits and in violation of building regulations, contributing to the blockage of the canal.

Residents of the area had been warned of the impending demolition, as the government had previously marked the illegal structures for removal.
