Three policemen implicated in the alleged murder of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student at Kwara State Polytechnic, have reportedly been dismissed from the force. This development follows their transfer to the police headquarters in Abuja for a thorough investigation.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had previously ordered the case be moved to Abuja to ensure an impartial probe into the September 4 incident, which occurred in the GRA area of Ilorin.
The tragic death of Abdulqoyyum has sparked outrage, with both the institution's management and the students' union calling for justice. State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya has committed to thoroughly investigating the matter to bring accountability to the family and the community.
When reached for comments on the officers' dismissal, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, stated that she had not yet received confirmation regarding the dismissal of the three operatives.
