5 killed in Lagos area boys clash

Five persons were feared killed and several others injured during a bloody clash between two factions of street urchins (Area boys), at the Iju area of Lagos. The factions, Daily Sun gathered battled for supremacy in the area. However, three persons have been arrested by the Police in connection with the killings even as it had declared a manhunt for the leaders of the factions.

Daily Sun also gathered that the hostility began around 10.45p.m on Sunday when some street urchins, suspected to have come from the Ishaga area of Iju confronted another group from Toyin Street.

The free-for-all lasted till 1.00am. By the time the dust settled one person was killd while several persons were injured. However, the area boys from Toyin Street who were angered following by the loss one of one of their own carried out a reprisal attack on the group from Ishaga. At the end of the fight, four persons laid dead and several others injured.
Eyewitnesses told Daily Sun that during the fight, dangerous weapons such as guns, matchets, broken bottles, acid and charms were freely used.

A street urchin from the Ishaga side who identified himself as Wasiu said the battle for supremacy between the two factions , started since December when a notable politician gave them money to share.

With few Naira notes these area boys who are no better than thugs can be influenced. They are a scourge just like university cultist who must be wiped out like the vermins they are. Where there is rule of law, such politicians would be thrown into dungeon.

hmmmmm, so this area boys of a thing is still going on in lagos?i thought they  quit when tinibu left
or  the new lagos governor is not doing any thing to stop them
many boys re useless and will die without knowing th reason
