Ijeoma Josephina Otabor a Big Brother Naira star turned actress and singer, who is also known as Phyna, has claimed she is reaping the rewards of her efforts in Nollywood and recently disclosed her earnings.
In a Twitter post, Phyna responded to a question about actors’ pay by revealing that she earns around five million Naira from three movies per month if she doesn’t take on too much work.
Phyna explained that while she can’t speak for others in the industry, her monthly earnings reflect the roles she accepts.
“In a month, I do about three movies, and they pay me around five million Naira,” she shared.
However, her transparency stirred different reactions online.
While some fans praised her success, others were skeptical about her claims.
Instagram user @fifys_shortlets stated, “5M for 3 movies in a month ain’t a big deal, she might be saying the truth.”
Another user, @abujasextoyshop, challenged Phyna to name the movies she had starred in, commenting, “Pls name the movies, would love to watch them.”
Skepticism continued to grow as @sh&ckwave questioned the validity of her earnings: “I don’t know if I believe this. I’d say the average pay is around 100-300k per movie, depending on the size of the role and the status of the star.”
However, others defended Phyna, noting that high-profile actors in Nollywood, such as Nancy Isime, can charge upwards of 1 million Naira per day. @chiomaegboh22 commented, “If you all don’t know, know it now.”
Despite the controversy, Phyna’s supporters applauded her for her achievements, with one fan, @unusual_tolani, encouraging her: “Whatever, you are doing well, Phyna.”
