Joe Igbokwe, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), voiced his concern about the surging cost of rice in Nigeria.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Igbokwe lamented that a bag of rice now exceeds ₦100,000, despite Nigeria's abundant rice mills.
Igbokwe’s Facebook post read, "With all the rice mills we have in Nigeria, my wife just told me that a bag of rice is now ₦100k plus. Without sounding immodest, I am constrained to say that the men and women that will rescue this country from self-inflicted pains and tears are not born yet."

His remarks have ignited widespread discussion online, with many Nigerians expressing their frustrations about the economic hardships caused by escalating food prices.
The issue has further spotlighted the strain on households across the country, as food inflation continues to rise despite efforts to boost local production.
