The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with the armed theft of a Toyota Highlander. The suspects were taken into custody after allegedly snatching the vehicle at gunpoint in Ekpoma.
According to police reports, the primary suspects—Ifeanyi Okpara (26), Dennis Okosun (25), and Edwin Iruogbe (27)—stole the SUV, which bears the registration number RBC 66 AQ. They subsequently sold the vehicle to a fourth suspect, Shehu Ismail (25), for N1.5 million.
State Commissioner of Police Nemi Edwin-Iwo revealed that the vehicle’s owner, Iwologbe Rapheal, reported the theft to authorities on August 23. Following this report, operatives from the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an extensive tech-driven investigation that led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of all four suspects, including the buyer.
In the course of the operation, police also recovered a locally made pistol along with two live cartridges from the suspects. Commissioner Edwin-Iwo stated that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime and will soon be charged in court.
