A shocking incident of kidnapping has occurred in Kwara State, where a 60-year-old farmer, Kayode Ajayi, and his daughter were abducted by armed assailants. The father and daughter were reportedly taken on the evening of September 18, 2023, while returning home from their farm in the Afon area of Asa Local Government.
The state Police Command confirmed the kidnapping through its spokesperson, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, on Tuesday. According to Okasanmi, the daughter has since been rescued, but efforts to locate and free Mr. Ajayi are ongoing.
“Our anti-kidnapping unit has been deployed to track down Mr. Kayode Ajayi,” the PPRO stated. “Our operatives are working tirelessly to ensure his safe return. By God's grace, we believe he will be rescued soon,” he added.
The community is on edge as authorities intensify their search for the abducted farmer, emphasizing the need for increased security measures to combat the rising tide of kidnapping in the region.
