Former Minister of Transportation and ex-governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, recently described Rivers State as the "capital of betrayals."
Amaechi made this remark while reflecting on his political influence in the state, noting that many of the politicians in Rivers had passed through him during their careers.
He emphasized his efforts to mentor many individuals in politics, suggesting that he has often been let down by those he helped.
Amaechi also clarified his stance on political violence, stating that he does not sponsor thuggery or engage in unethical activities because of his personal desire to "make heaven.
He said;
“Name one politician in Port Harcourt that didn’t pass through me, they can’t stand hunger.
“Rivers State has become the capital of betrayals, just name one politician who didn’t pass through me.
“You will not see me in any political meeting planning for thugs, you will not see me say this money is for thugs; I will not.
“My Priest tells me that anybody who dies in the course of that money, you will be held accountable; the society may not hold you accountable or send you to prison but God will not allow you into heaven because he will hold you accountable. I don’t want to miss heaven.”
