In a significant operation, the Nigerian Army has apprehended a female arms courier and dismantled a notorious terrorist network, seizing a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition in the process.
Details of the operation were shared via the Nigerian Army’s official social media platforms on October 17, 2024. The statement revealed that troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, tracked and arrested the arms courier at the Barikin Ladi Motor Park in Plateau State. Intelligence indicated that the suspects were involved in smuggling firearms from Plateau to terrorist groups in Zamfara State.
The operation led to the arrest of Mrs. Fidausu Hassan and her accomplice, Mr. Sani Isah Musa, from whom troops recovered 505 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
In a separate but related operation, army personnel raided a residence in Ambakka village, located on the Plateau-Nasarawa border. This raid resulted in the capture of Alhaji Adamu Bajara, a high-profile suspect wanted on multiple security watchlists. Troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from his property, while efforts to apprehend his accomplices continue.
Additionally, in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, troops acted on verified intelligence to strike a Boko Haram tax collection point in the Ngazargamu area. In the ensuing firefight, soldiers neutralized two terrorists and confiscated an array of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, one FN rifle, and various ammunition types.
Further north in Borno State, troops ambushed fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) along the Gamboru-Logomane road, successfully eliminating two terrorists during the confrontation.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat terrorism and restore security in affected regions.
