20th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) took place on November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton, Lagos, to a packed audience
Hosted by veteran actors Segun Arinze and Joselyn Dumas, the ceremony featured captivating performances by Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, Yinka Davies, and other renowned pan-African artists.
Femi Adebayo’s historical epic, Jagun Jagun, emerged victorious with three awards: Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Achievement in Makeup, and Achievement in Visual Effects. Initially nominated in seven categories, Jagun Jagun’s wins marked a triumphant night for the Nollywood producer.
Other notable winners included Daniel Oriahi’s The Weekend and Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s The Queenstown Kings, each taking home four awards. The star-studded event drew celebrities like Jackie Appiah, Rita Dominic, and Chinedu Ikedieze.
An elated Femi Adebayo shared his victory on social media, posting a video of him receiving an award from Zubby Michael, captioned: “Thrilled to announce JAGUN JAGUN won three awards at the 2024 AMAA AWARDS! in the following categories: Best Male Actor in A Supporting Role, Achievement in Makeup, Achievement in Visual Effects.”
