The Kaduna State Police Command announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the vandalism of railway tracks in Gnami village, Kagarko Local Government Area, on Saturday. The suspects were caught with 40 pieces of iron rods allegedly removed from a concrete railway bridge.

Command spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the arrest on Sunday, explaining that the suspects, identified as Joel Musa and John Yakubu from Pakau village, were apprehended after a local vigilance group member, Mr. Yusuf Dogo, alerted authorities.

Dogo had observed the men attempting to dismantle the railway infrastructure and reported the incident at the local police station. Police operatives, in collaboration with the vigilance team, swiftly responded and detained the suspects on-site, though other alleged accomplices managed to escape.

"Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the fleeing suspects," Hassan added, confirming that the police have secured approximately 40 iron rods as evidence.

The case remains under investigation, and the suspects will face charges upon its conclusion. Hassan urged community members to continue providing timely information to help combat crime.

The federal government of Nigeria should henceforth stop wasting money building big infrastructures in the North. These people have vandalized almost everything. Imagine going up high to vandalize  electric high tension cables.
