The recent revelations by Nigerian activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan, regarding an alleged inheritance scandal involving Access Bank have sparked widespread attention. According to VeryDarkMan, the late Mr. Edongesi Edit Hour, who passed away on April 17, 2019, had informed his sister, Basi Edit Hour, about his significant financial assets held in multiple Nigerian banks, including Access Bank, GT Bank, and Keystone Bank.

The controversy centers around an unclaimed fortune of N500 million, which reportedly became contentious after Mr. Edongesi's death. VeryDarkMan’s video sheds light on allegations that Access Bank might have played a role in the improper handling of the funds, raising concerns about transparency and trust within the banking sector.

This disclosure has resonated strongly among Nigerians, as it touches on critical issues of financial integrity, inheritance rights, and accountability in the banking industry. If substantiated, these claims could significantly impact public perception and trust in Nigerian financial institutions.

The activist has called for an investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need for justice for the late Mr. Edongesi's family and greater regulatory scrutiny to prevent similar incidents in the future.

VDM reported that Basi was able to access funds of N10 million from GT Bank and N2.9 million from Keystone Bank after receiving a Letter of Administration from the Kaduna High Court. However, the main issue now revolves around the N500 million in Access Bank.

VDM explained that the situation escalated when Access Bank surprisingly denied that the deceased had an account. Even after the Central Bank of Nigeria confirmed the accounts linked to Mr. Edongesi’s BVN, Verydarkman stated that Access Bank provided incomplete records and did not give a full account statement.

Verydarkman shared that Access Bank stated in a 2020 announcement that the account had been inactive since it was opened in 2016, showing a meager balance of 54 Kobo.

The activist insists that the absence of records from 2016 to 2020 is a clear sign of possible misconduct.

In his message, VeryDarkMan went beyond just pointing fingers at the bank. He cautioned his followers to remain watchful and keep a close eye on their Access Bank accounts.

Sharing the video, he wrote in parts:

“IF YOU HAVE AN ACCESS BANK ACCOUNT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS, YOUR FUTURE AND GENERATION MAY DEPEND ON THIS…

“THIS ALLEGATION MUST BE NOT BE SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET, A DEEP INVESTIGATION SHOULD AND MUST BE CARRIED OUT…”
