NAFDAC Carries Out Massive Raid in Lagos, Seizes N300 Million Worth of Fake Medicines (PICS)

The Investigation and Enforcement team of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) conducted a significant operation at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, uncovering a large cache of counterfeit medicines. The raid resulted in the seizure of fake pharmaceuticals, including:

Amoxicillin 500mg
Ampiclox capsules 500mg
Packaging materials for Augmentin capsules 625mg


The facility has been placed on HOLD, and all illegal products have been evacuated to ensure public safety.

A statement from the agency says these counterfeit medicines estimated at over N300 million pose severe health risks, including treatment failure, organ damage, and potential carcinogenic effects due to unknown compositions.

The suspect has been invited for questioning, and further investigations are underway.

NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office to help combat the circulation of fake medicines.
