Authorities in Anambra State have apprehended a suspected armed robber and kidnapper, Ebuka Ndubuisi, in connection with a N15 million ransom paid by a victim. Ndubuisi’s arrest was made possible through information provided by his gang member, Miracle, who was earlier detained in Awka.
According to a statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Ndubuisi was arrested on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Obosi, Idemili North.
“Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, acted swiftly on information provided by the suspect in custody,” Ikenga stated. “The victim paid N15 million in ransom, and his vehicle was taken by the gang. The stolen vehicle was recovered from Ndubuisi during the operation.”
The breakthrough came after the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, directed an intensified effort to apprehend all members of the gang following Miracle’s earlier arrest.
Ndubuisi, aged 29, is now in custody as investigations continue. Police have assured that the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
This arrest marks a significant step in the state’s fight against armed robbery and kidnapping, with authorities urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
