The Federal High Court in Lagos has ruled for the permanent forfeiture of a warehouse allegedly connected to Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The decision, handed down on Tuesday, marks a crucial step in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding Emefiele and his assets.
The warehouse, situated on a 1.925-hectare property at Km 8 along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Magboro, was discovered to contain 54 steel containers filled with various sewing machines.
The court’s ruling is seen as a reinforcement of the government’s commitment to addressing asset forfeiture and ensuring accountability for public officials. The development comes as part of broader efforts to investigate financial misconduct and mismanagement in high-level government offices.
The forfeiture of the warehouse signals a significant victory for the authorities as they continue their probe into Emefiele’s financial dealings and his role in the Central Bank’s operations.
