Suspected bandits have killed a 7-year-old girl and two others during an attack on Kuki village in Randagi Ward, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The tragic incident occurred on Monday around noon, according to local sources.
The attackers, riding motorcycles, stormed the community near the Kaduna-Niger border, looting shops and rustling livestock. A local community leader, speaking anonymously, revealed that the body of the young girl was discovered in a nearby bush after the bandits fled the area.
“The bandits came through a neighboring village called Unguwar Mission to carry out the attack,” the source explained. “They stole motorcycles, rustled cows, and looted shops. In the process, two people lost their lives, and later, the body of the 7-year-old girl was found.”
In a swift response, vigilantes from Randagi village and neighboring Niger State reportedly pursued the bandits, recovering the stolen cows within the Uragi forest.
The Chairman of the Birnin Gwari-Niger Inter Boundaries Communities Union for Peace and Development (BG-NI CUPD), Ishaq Usman Kasai, confirmed the attack but refrained from providing additional details.
The incident has heightened concerns about the growing insecurity in the region, as communities on the Kaduna-Niger border remain vulnerable to banditry and violence.
