The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected burglar, , Awolesi Precious for allegedly stealing items worth over N7 million from a lounge situated within the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB) premises in Abeokuta.
Precious, who was caught in the early hours of January 3, 2025, by officers from the Harmony Division stationed on the university campus, was transporting a large Firman generator valued at N1.2 million when he was intercepted during a midnight patrol.
Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and provided details to the Daily Post, explaining that Precious was apprehended around 3:00 AM. When questioned, the suspect initially claimed he had rented the generator for N12,500 from a sound engineer for an event scheduled for later that day. However, further investigation led him to confess that the generator was stolen from the Chilbay Entertainment Lounge, which had been the site of a previous burglary.
In addition to the generator, a number of other items were stolen from the lounge, including four 32-inch televisions, a 50-inch television, assorted wines and liquors valued at N6 million, as well as various beverages, energy drinks, and a microwave oven.
Upon searching Precious's apartment, police recovered most of the stolen items, except for the televisions. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the suspect is expected to face charges in court.
