Operatives of the Onipanu Division of the Ogun State police have arrested a 59-year-old security guard, identified as Olaitan Matthew, for the alleged theft of electric motor parts belonging to a company he works for.

Matthew, who works with Land Star Company, located in Tomori, Animashaun Estate, in the Ota area of the state, was arrested at about 4:30 am on Wednesday.

The suspect was apprehended by the anti-crime team of the division when he failed to provide an adequate explanation of how he obtained the motor parts.

Confirming his arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the suspect, after several questions, confessed to stealing the parts from the company while production was temporarily halted.

Odutola said: “On January 15, 2025, at about 4:30 am, the Anti-Crime Team of the Onipanu Division apprehended a 59-year-old security guard named Olaitan Matthew at Land Star Company, located in Tomori Estate, Animashaun Estate, Ota.
