A self-confessed internet fraudster, commonly known as a Yahoo boy, has set social media abuzz after revealing how he defrauded a Caucasian woman, identified as Deborah Woods, of $597,000 within a span of six weeks.
The shocking confession, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), detailed how the elaborate scheme unfolded. According to the fraudster, the scam was masterminded by an unidentified individual who first established contact with the victim. He was later introduced into the conversation and played the role of someone in financial distress, which led to a series of payments from Woods.
Describing his method, he stated:
*"I came in as the person asking for money. There was a mastermind—he started the relationship and conversation. Once I got involved, she started remitting money based on the stories I told her."*
He disclosed that Woods sent multiple payments, beginning with an initial sum of $4,000, but he eventually lost count as the transactions increased. However, he noted that not all the funds were successfully received, as some transactions failed or got stuck in the process.
*"In total, she sent $597,000, but only about $200,000 came through. The mastermind took over $13,000 from me. I used my share of the money to buy and resell cars,"* he admitted.
The revelation has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many condemning the act while others debated the ethics of online fraud. The case highlights ongoing concerns over cybercrime and its impact on unsuspecting victims worldwide.
