Libyan Authorities Arrest Four Nigerian Migrants Over Alleged Prostitution

Libyan authorities have arrested four Nigerian migrants—three women and one man—on allegations of prostitution in the Shatii District of Libya. 

According to a statement released by Migrant Rescue Watch on Friday, February 14, 2025, the arrests took place during a police operation in Aqar on Wednesday. Law enforcement officials raided a residence suspected of being used for illegal activities.

“Aqar Police Department conducted a raid on a residence used by migrants for prostitution. During the operation, three females and one male of Nigerian nationality were arrested. All suspects have been referred to public prosecution for legal action,”
the statement read. 

The incident highlights Libya’s ongoing crackdown on illegal migration and related offenses, with authorities intensifying efforts to combat human trafficking and unlawful activities involving migrants.
