Two men, identified as Zaiyyanu Usman and Habibu Ibrahim, were caught red-handed slaughtering a stolen goat inside an unfinished building in Paso village, Gwagwalada Area Council, Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were apprehended late Wednesday night around 11:28 p.m. by local vigilantes patrolling the area.
According to Alhassan Sayeed, a member of the vigilante group, the arrest came after a report was filed by a resident, Mama Rabi, who claimed her goat had gone missing. Acting on the tip-off, the vigilantes launched a search and discovered the duo butchering the stolen animal inside the uncompleted structure.
