The Anambra State Police Command has taken a suspect, Christian Ndubuisi, into custody over the alleged murder of his elder brother during a violent altercation.
The tragic incident, which occurred on February 15, 2025, has once again highlighted the dangers of unchecked anger and unresolved disputes.
In a statement released on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that officers from the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters arrested Ndubuisi shortly after receiving a report of the fatal confrontation.
“Investigations revealed that a heated disagreement between the suspect and his elder brother took a deadly turn when Ndubuisi broke a bottle and stabbed him,” Ikenga stated.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by medical personnel upon arrival.
Reacting to the incident, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, described the case as both tragic and unfortunate, emphasizing the importance of peaceful conflict resolution within families and communities.
“It is heartbreaking that a minor dispute escalated into a fatal altercation,” CP Orutugu lamented.
He assured the public that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further inquiry, with a firm commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
