
A 22-year-old man, identified as Razak Jimoh, was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen in the Lantoro area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Eyewitnesses reported that two masked assailants pursued the victim, who ran into a residential building in an attempt to escape. However, the attackers forcefully dragged him out to the corridor, inflicted a deep axe wound on his leg, and then shot him in the head at close range before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the killing occurred around 11 p.m. on Thursday. She stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Kemta Division swiftly deployed detectives to the crime scene following a distress call.
*“The victim’s body has been deposited at the General Hospital for autopsy as investigations continue,”* Odutola said.
While condemning the brutal attack, which is suspected to be linked to cult-related violence, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the killers. He assured the public that those responsible for the heinous act would be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
