
A 50-year-old farmer, identified as Alfa Mustapha, has been found dead on his farmland in Ageri Village, Olodo, located in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Mustapha, who had left for his farm on Saturday morning, failed to return home, raising concerns among family and community members.
His body was eventually discovered face-up with a cutlass beside him by the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, who had gone searching for him at around 6:02 p.m.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the Imam reported the case at the Olodo Police Outstation at approximately 6:30 p.m. on February 22, 2025.
Upon receiving the report, police officers visited the crime scene, took photographs, and moved the body to the **General Hospital, Odeda**, for medical examination.
Initially, no visible signs of violence were detected due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility at the time of discovery. However, a subsequent medical examination confirmed that Mustapha had been shot at close range, with bullet wounds from pellets found on his body.
Following this revelation, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a full-scale investigation to track down those responsible for the murder.
The police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, assurig the public that justice will be served and that no effort will be spared in bringing the culprits to book
