A pregnant woman, identified as Kosi, has reportedly died from domestic violence, allegedly at the hands of her husband.
A nurse, Ngozi Divine Chidunem, revealed the tragic incident in a Facebook post on Sunday, February 23, 2025, stating that Kosi had been a victim of repeated abuse before her death.
According to Chidunem, Kosi had fled her marriage in December 2024 after her husband publicly assaulted her, but she later returned to him in January 2025.
"Just this December, I met a heavily pregnant woman being beaten by her husband in public while people watched," Chidunem wrote. "She told me she wanted to leave but had no money to travel. I gave her ₦50,000 so she could return to the East."
However, the nurse said Kosi returned to her husband a month later and even began avoiding her.
"I just got a call that her husband has killed her. He beat her on Friday, and she started bleeding heavily. He took her to the hospital, but she never made it there. Kosi is gone."
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about domestic violence in Nigeria, with many calling for stronger measures to protect women in abusive relationships. The police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the case.
