A deadly collision between a gas-filled tanker and a sand-loaded tipper claimed one life and left three others injured on Saturday morning at the entrance of Tsafe, near Dutse in Zamfara State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the tragic incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. According to his report, the crash occurred precisely at 10:19 a.m., triggering an urgent response from the Zamfara State Fire Service.
Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene, working to cool the tanker and prevent any potential explosions or fire outbreaks due to the volatile gas load. Emergency responders quickly evacuated the injured victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
“The quick response from firefighters helped prevent what could have been a major disaster,” Makama stated.
While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the factors leading to the collision.
The tragic event has raised renewed concerns about road safety and the transportation of hazardous materials across Nigeria’s highways.
