My take: raise ur kids in love, fear of God and discipline.....be their friends but apply limits.
Don't spare the rod so they wouldn't spoil but don't be abusive with the rod cos when they get used to it, it doesn't correct them any more.

Thats what my 1st answer was all about.....my addition was not sparing the rod.....my parents didnt ever touch me, but kids of these days have an attachment in the name of an ear, if you spare the rod always, they will be spoilt........and me no get power to dey always shout......
you can always say"GO TO YOUR ROOM" like the oyibos Grin Grin

In raising my kids I will always do it African way
Not dat of whites where u wan 2 talk 2 ur kid n d kid will just say shut up Dad/Mum!
I honor my parents a lot so I want my kids to do d same

I was taught dat there is a way a kid shuld talk 2 parent even if he is right. There is a better way to tackle d issue not scolding at ur parents
